CGS Announces the Expansion of Romanian Operations to Support its Growing Contact Center Division

New York, NY – October 7, 2014 – CGS, a leading global provider of technology and outsourcing solutions, announces the opening of its fourth Romanian office, in the city of Targu Jiu, to support the growth of its contact center division. Operations in Targu Jiu will support local, European and US markets to provide multilingual customer care, technical support, telesales, helpdesk and other business process outsourcing services for some of the world’s largest companies.

CGS opened its first contact center operation in Romania in 2008, capitalizing upon its multilingual and technically-skilled labor force and gaining first-mover advantage to quickly become a top employer in the country. Over the past five years, operations have grown from 300 to 2,500 employees within its operations in Bucharest, Brasov and Sibiu, offering contact center support in 20 different languages. With the new office in Targu Jiu, CGS looks to add an additional 250 – 300 employees over the next 12 – 18 months.

"CGS's strategic growth in multiple Romanian cities enables us to deliver superior multilingual, geographically redundant customer support solutions for our clients," said Tom Christenson, President of Contact Center Solutions at CGS.

“Romania is capable of servicing the world because of the talent of the people. We’ve made major investments into our Romanian operations, and hope to continue to provide long-term career opportunities for our Romanian employees,” said Phil Friedman, President and CEO of CGS. “Few companies can compete with Romania on the level of multilingual, neutral-accent skills, and we believe that the outsourcing sector will continue to grow if the educational system can keep up with the demand for this talent.”

In support of expanding operations, Friedman, along with Vladimir Sterescu, Romania Country Manager and Senior VP of Customer Support Solutions, met with local Romanian government and university officials to discuss long-term growth plans, job creation and the continued development of local talent.

“We’re looking forward to a long relationship with Targu Jiu and Romania. We were one of the first to enter the market in Romania, and we’re here to stay and continue to develop our business,” said Friedman.
