Essex Country Sheriff's Department Relies on Computer Generated Solutions to Develop Next Generation System to Manage Processes.
New York, NY - June 9, 2004 - The Essex County Sheriff's Office, one of the busiest sheriff's offices in New Jersey, has been working to advance the use of technology, as a tool, to become more productive. Essex County officials today announced Computer Generated Solutions, Inc. (CGS) will implement the latest enhanced version of CGSRMS.
The announcement - made jointly by Sheriff Armando Fontoura and Paul Magel, Senior Vice President of the CGS Application Solutions Division - reinforces how sheriffs' offices can make use of modern, integrated technology that will enable faster and more efficient processes to help better serve the community.
The Essex County Sheriff's Office reviewed 14 different vendors, before publishing an invitation to bid, ultimately awarding the project to CGS. CGS had previously built the original system back in 1994. Sheriff Fontoura's satisfaction with that system was a major factor in awarding CGS the phase II, modernization project. The bid required a fully functional records management system, comprising complete Civil and Criminal modules, with a GUI front end, use of Microsoft Word for document production and data connectivity portals for external systems.
The civil module actively manages summonses and complaints, garnishee activities, foreclosures, general writs, accounts receivables and payables, and process server assignments (automatic, via portal grid set-up) and activities. Functions exist for check printing, document production through MS Word data-text-merge, for example property deeds and form letters. The civil system has a number of proactive features to prompt users that action is needed, for example the garnishee completion letter to employers when the docket is satisfied.
The criminal module supports all the detective activities, such as arrest entry and maintenance, incidents, all aspects of warrant processing, booking and identification, and interfaces with CAD, Livescan devices, photo imaging and the inmate tracking system. Comprehensive search functions combine the search results from local, state and federal systems.
To compliment and enhance these processes, the upgraded system developed by CGS will enable the access to the full CGSRMS system through any wireless device.
"The Essex County vicinage is the busiest court system in New Jersey and one of the twenty busiest vicinages in the United States," said Sheriff Fontoura. "We need to provide a department that can quickly and effectively meet the needs of our citizens. An integrated records management system allows us to works smarter and faster. We have worked with CGS in the past and feel confident that they can implement the best solution for us. The CGS staff is enthusiastic and knowledgeable but the real unique value is the blend of both technical and business savvy that they bring to the engagement. This combination is key to ensuring that the project is a success."
CGS has been implementing technology solutions for business and government agencies for over 20 years. Offering a full breath of services from project inception to implementation, CGS can adapt to any environment and provide the optimum solution.
