Unlimited Mailbox™ - Features
- No code, APIs or DLLs reside on the production mail server or client (desktop) computer.
- This alleviates conflict with production server software (e.g. Operating System, Mail Platform) warranties that often exist when 3rd party software resides on the server.
- Platform Independent – the same code base can be used for all major mail platforms, including Microsoft Exchange, Lotus Notes, Novell GroupWise, and SunONE Messaging.
- An additional benefit of platform independence is that that it facilitates any migration, either via upgrade within a particular platform or moving from one platform to another (e.g. GroupWise to Exchange).
- Multiple language support including double byte character sets (e.g. Asian languages).
- End user works in same e-mail environment as they are accustomed to, through a desktop or remote client, allowing full access to archived e-mail without IT intervention.
- Local folder structure mirrored in archive (end-users can search archives in this context).

- Comprehensive search abilities leverage Apache Lucene technologies (Boolean, fuzzy, proximity, range, grouping, wild card, term boosting).
- Auditors have the ability to create and save a Search Profile. This is particularly useful for frequently recurring searches. A defined/saved Search Profile runs the search continuously in the background.
- Automatic export of designated e-mails. This export (EML or PDF format) allows for immediate transfer to specified people/accounts, including outside legal firms.
- There are various strategies used for archiving e-mail. Unlimited Mailbox archives using a remote call system. This is in contrast to some major competitors who use a conversion methodology when handling e-mail. Their approach changes the header and structure of the mail as it moves into archive. Unlimited Mailbox does not use this conversion approach – we can therefore assure the integrity of the archive and there are no corresponding compliance issues. This feature alleviates the risk of vendor lock-in to proprietary storage formats.
- The solution does not require specific Operating System and Service Pack levels and versions. It supports all Operating Systems and all versions of Exchange, GroupWise, and Lotus Notes.
