CGS Romania Hosts Blood Drive

Over the last six months, CGS hosted multiple blood donation events at their offices in Romania. The idea came from CGS Romania’s Project Manager, Florin Păcuraru, who is a frequent donor at the Military Hospital in Bucharest. The Romanian Ministry of National Defense helped coordinate the blood drive with CGS.

In February and May of this year, a mobile unit of the Blood Transfusion Center of Ministry of National Defense came to CGS offices in Romania. A team of professionals helped CGS employees quell the fear of needles by explaining the positive impact of their donations.

Annually, over 600,000 patients in hospitals in Romania need blood transfusions or blood products to survive. However, most of the time, we think of donating blood only when someone is in need or when we hear about a specific situation. In fact, the need for blood is constant. Blood products can be stored for a limited number of days and, in addition, patients with serious illnesses and low immunity need blood from constant donors (those who donate at least twice a year).

Thanks to the Ministry’s staff, everything went very smoothly and over 70 CGS colleagues donated blood. This year was the first time CGS Romania hosted a mobile blood donation drive at their office and they hope that this will continue to be a more frequent event.

Through the #FriendsDonatingTogether campaign, CGS promotes voluntary blood donations. Each donation contributes to increasing the safety of Romania’s transfusion system. CGS Romania employees are welcome to donate at any Blood Transfusion Center in the city where they live.
