New York, NY – August 23, 2013 — CGS, a leading global provider of technology solutions, announced today that Mr. Phil Friedman, CEO of CGS and member of the Board of Directors of the Tom Lantos Institute and the Lantos Foundation for Human Rights and Justice, met with the Archbishop of Athens and all Greece, His Beatitude, Mr. Ieronymos, as well as Greek government and religious officials in early August to discuss combatting the issue of anti-Semitism in Europe.

Mr. Friedman traveled to Greece to discuss the participation of Greek officials and the Greek clergy in a conference on combatting anti-Semitism and preserving Jewish heritage that is being organized by the Tom Lantos Institute. The conference, Jewish Life and Anti-Semitism in Contemporary Europe, will be held in Budapest, Hungary October 1-2, 2013.

“With the recent rise of anti-Semitism in Europe, it’s important that we come together globally to fight for human rights,” said Friedman. “No one group can fight this issue alone – Jewish, Christian and Muslim leaders must stand together in combatting the racist and anti-Semitic phenomena."

The conference will take place in the Upper House of the Hungarian Parliament with the support of the Hungarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The conference will also include an interreligious dialogue between Jewish, Christian and Muslim leaders.

In addition to the Archbishop of Greece, Mr. Friedman held meetings with other high-level officials including the Greek Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Mr. Evangelos Venizelo; the Minister of Culture, Mr. Panos Panaghiotopoulos; the Deputy Chief of Mission of the US Embassy, Mrs. Virginia Bennett; the President of the Central Board of Jewish Communities in Greece, Mr. Benjamin Albalas and the President of the Athens Jewish Community, Mr. Minos Moissis.
